Olivia: If youâre ever here in Scottsdale, definitely take a look at Second Story. Itâs an awesome speakeasy. The cause I needed to have Addie on at present was often because sheâs just about carried out the unthinkable. Sheâs given in careers and sheâs now an internet house advisor, which is in real property with zero real property experience. Iâm hoping, for these of you who are doubting that you donât have experience otherwise youâre not qualified, I really wished to share her story as a result of itâs actually inspiring. Addie, I just want to know. You have been in a field where you have been already performing very well and also you were climbing and also you have been getting promotions. What made you need to leave? Addie: I obtained that query so much from lots of friends and family. I was working as a re cruiter for one more builder, fell into HR recruiting right out of school. I was doing properly. I was getting promoted. I thought, âIf Iâm profitable at this, I should be enthusiastic about it, right? They must go hand-and-hand.â Well, no. I began doing some self-reflection this previous year and was realizing that it wasnât what I was passionate bout. It wasnât what was getting me off the bed within the morning. I began pondering what am I keen about? I know you understand this, itâs a hard question to answer. Itâs not straightforward. I started considering what do you do together with your free time? Thatâs what youâre actually passionate. I realized that Iâm going to open homes. Iâm checking apps, like Realtor.com and Zillow. Iâm actually obsessed with shows like âFlip or Flopâ on HGTV. I was like âIâm loving actual estate.â I started doing a little analysis online and I found out the way to get my actual property license. Once I made that call I started reaching out to my community and people who have been in a job that I wanted to be, or in real property. Olivia: Wait a second! Did you just say reaching out to your community? Because Iâm pretty positive those of you guys listening, we all hear that you have to network. I know this is something that comes naturally to you. You just about doubled down and she or he made this occur in a matter of 1 month. I assume it was even much less. I talked to her, two weeks later you had three interviews lined up. When you say reached out to your network, who did that occur for you and how did you develop these contacts that had been so valuable? Addie: I guess the place it started was right after I made the choice to start out my real estate license. Signed up for that to carry me accountable. I made a list of other builders or re-sale realty companies that I would need to work with. I wrote them down and I stated âIâm going to reach out to all of those. Iâm going to seek out somebody who works there or did work there and ask them what itâs like.â Olivia: She obtained a target listing of companies, this may sound acquainted, if some of you had read âThe Career Upgrade Roadmap.â Not trying to plug the guide, but it's free this week, so positively hit the link beneath and download it. Thatâs precisely what you probably did and most of the people donât take the time to get particular ⦠Even then though, you were thinking actual property, however you werenât precisely certain what job or if it was even possible. Did you suppose it was potential but, nonetheless? Addie: It was actually kind of a hope. I just was like âIâm gonna comply with this energy that Iâm feeling right now and Iâm going to pursue this finest I can.â Again, writing down the businesses and then anybody I would speak to, even if I didnât suppose they had a connection to one of them, letting them know what my plans have been. âHereâs what I want to do, right hereâs what Iâm working on. Iâm attempting to get into real estate.â And it just opened up, I mean, you wouldnât be surprised, however anybody else may be stunned. âOh, I know this individual. I know this person. You should discuss to them.â It simply waterfall-ed from there. Olivia: Were you stunned that how much that opened up alternatives, just simply having these conversations? Addie: I was blown away. People truly wish to assist you to. They want to say âOh, I know this individual. You should discuss to them.â Or âThey can help you out, theyâre at this firmâ Itâs loopy. I was truthfully blown away. Olivia: At the purpose if youâre meeting with these people, were you asking for a job? Addie: No. I mean, Iâm simply doing discovery. Itâs still out of my consolation zone, however in a way that I guess made them feel comfy with answering my questions, letting me know what itâs like, or what I ought to look out for. What might be onerous about it? I was really shocked. Olivia: Wow! Thatâs unbelievable. What obtained you so many interviews so shortly? I suppose you had three in per week one time with builders and ultimately on paper you werenât as certified as your competitors. What do you think lead to that? Addie: Zero qualifications. I think, actually, the networking and being persistent, following up. I was at that time able to take any angle I may to get into a company. Iâd say âHey, I just talked to Tim who works at this company and he really helpful I communicate to you.â Coming from a recruiter, I knew that I loved referrals. I figured that some other firm would love referrals. Anyway that I could work out an angle to get somebodyâs name or drop a community quantity in there, I would do this. I assume thatâs what helped getting there. Olivia: Why do you think so many individuals hesitate to do this stuff, what you probably did? Addie: Itâs scary. Itâs very scary. My family and pals had been like, âWha t are you doing Addie? You obtained an excellent thing going and your profitable at this. Stay in it.â Itâs very gray. Itâs not black and white. Thereâs not a you do that and it will occur. You hope you could be as descriptive and arranged as you need, but itâs scary. Itâs putting your self on the market and hoping that itâs going to work out. Olivia: How does it really feel now that it has worked out? Addie: Itâs great. I really feel so happy. I feel stress free and I really feel like I know Iâve made the right determination. I followed my ardour. I adopted my gut. Olivia: Did you ever assume it was going to happen this fast? Addie: No, I didnât. Itâs superior. That was stunning. Olivia: Well thank you. Is there anything else you'd share with folks which are feeling stuck and perhaps wanting to pivot, but donât really feel qualified. What would you say to those individuals? Addie: I would simply say, for me, it was plenty of self reflection. So actually self replicate. Are you really pleased? Is it really what youâre keen about? If not, thatâs okay. Donât be afraid. Figure out what you are enthusiastic about, what you do like doing in your free time. Then make a plan and go after it. Olivia: Awesome. Thank you. Cheers to you and your success. Addie: Cheers. Olivia: Youâre superior.
